Dikshant Dash and Aditi Mohanty won open and girls titles respectively in the Odisha State Under-11 Chess Championship, which was hosted by District Chess Association of Puri, under the aegis of All Odisha Chess Association at Hotel Rumani in Puri from May 3 to 5.
Bhubaneswar boy Dikshant scored 6.5 points out of possible seven. Harshit Ranjan Sahu of Cuttack became runner-up with six points. In girls’ category, Aditi (Cuttack) retained the title with six points, while Pratyusha Priyadarshini (Bhubaneswar) settled as runner-up with 5.5 points.
Altogether 136 players, including 43 girls, participated in the three-day championship, which was conducted by FIDE Arbiter Arghya Arpan Parida. The top two finishers from both the categories will represent Odisha in the National U-11 Chess Championship, scheduled be held this year at Raipur from June 28 to July 6.
